Arrival in the Pearl of Africa
Your Wander and Wonder journey begins the moment your flight touches down at Entebbe International Airport. Your personal guide will greet you in arrivals, assist with your luggage, and escort you in a comfortable private vehicle to your hotel in Kampala. After settling in, enjoy a welcome dinner and a pre-safari orientation briefing where your guide will walk you through the days ahead, answer every question you have, and ensure you feel completely at ease about the gorilla trekking experience.
The Road to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, begin the scenic overland transfer to Bwindi — a journey as rewarding as the destination. Pass through Uganda's fertile highlands, terraced hillsides, misty crater lakes, and roadside markets bursting with colour. Stop at the equator for photographs and a short cultural break. As you descend into the lush valleys of southwestern Uganda, the forest closes in around you and the air cools. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, enjoy a hearty dinner, and rest well — tomorrow is the day.
Gorilla Trekking — The Encounter of a Lifetime
Rise early for a light breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for your gorilla permit check-in and a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will be assigned to a habituated gorilla family and set off into the ancient forest alongside experienced trackers who have spent years studying these animals. The trek can take anywhere from one to five hours depending on where the gorillas have made their morning nest. When you find them — and you will — you are permitted one golden hour in their presence. Silverbacks resting in shafts of forest light. Young gorillas tumbling through undergrowth. Mothers cradling infants with astonishing gentleness. It is, without question, one of the most moving wildlife experiences on earth. Return to the lodge for a celebratory lunch and afternoon at leisure.
Batwa Cultural Experience & Return Journey
This morning, walk alongside the Batwa people — the original forest-dwellers of Bwindi who lived inside the forest for thousands of years before it became a protected national park. Your Batwa guide will lead you through their ancestral forest, demonstrating traditional hunting techniques, honey collection from wild hives, medicinal plant knowledge, and storytelling around a fire. It is a humbling, deeply human experience that complements the wildlife encounter from the previous day. After lunch, begin the return journey toward Kampala, arriving in the evening for your final night in Uganda.
Farewell Breakfast & Departure
Your final morning in Uganda. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and any last shopping or sightseeing before your guide escorts you to Entebbe International Airport with plenty of time before your flight. We will assist with any check-in queries and ensure you depart Uganda with a full heart, extraordinary photographs, and memories that will last a lifetime. We hope to welcome you back — Uganda is not a country you visit only once.

What Our Guests Say
Nothing tells our story better than the words of those who have walked the forest with us.
We have travelled extensively across Africa — Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda — but nothing, absolutely nothing, compares to looking into the eyes of a silverback gorilla just three metres away. Wander and Wonder arranged everything flawlessly. Samuel and the team were extraordinary.
The gorilla trek was the highlight of our entire East Africa trip. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and made us feel safe throughout. Booking was seamless, communication was prompt, and every detail was taken care of. We're already planning to come back for chimpanzee tracking.
I was travelling solo and was a little nervous. The team at Wander and Wonder made me feel completely looked after from my first email to landing back home. The gorilla experience was life-changing. I wept. I'm not ashamed to say it. This is a must-do before you leave this earth.
