Mountain gorilla face-to-face encounter in Bwindi Uganda jungle canopy

Where the World Slows Down & Nature Takes Over

You're standing in ancient mist-laden forest, just metres from a silverback mountain gorilla — one of fewer than 1,100 left on earth. His eyes meet yours. Time stops. This is Uganda, and this is why you came.

Our 8-Day Luxury Grand Safari is the most complete Uganda safari we offer. You'll trek for gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, and cruise the Kazinga Channel watching hippos, elephants, and buffalo from a private boat. Every night, you return to a lodge designed to blend seamlessly with the wilderness around it.

This tour is crafted for travellers who refuse to compromise — on wildlife encounters, on comfort, or on the quality of stories they take home. We limit group sizes, personalise each itinerary, and our guide-to-guest ratio ensures every moment is exactly as it should be.

Transparent Pricing. No Hidden Fees.

All prices are per person, based on double occupancy. Gorilla trekking permits are included in the luxury tier. Single supplement available on request.

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest

Kibale National Park

An early morning briefing at the park HQ, then into Kibale Forest with your expert ranger. Kibale is the world's best destination for habituated chimpanzee tracking — you spend up to an hour with a chimpanzee family group, observing their social behaviour, vocalizations, and play. The forest itself is alive with over 375 bird species, red-tailed monkeys, and L'Hoest's monkeys. In the afternoon, optional visit to the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birdwatching.

In the afternoon, board a private boat for the world-renowned Kazinga Channel Cruise: one of Africa's best wildlife spectacles, with hippos wallowing just metres away, buffalo drinking at the banks, and hundreds of waterbirds in attendance. Sundowner drinks on deck as elephants cross in the golden hour.

Ishasha — The Tree-Climbing Lions of the World

An early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains — Uganda's best area for lion, leopard, and Uganda kob — before driving south to the remote Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth. This corner of the park is world-famous for its unique tree-climbing lions, often found draped across fig tree branches in the early morning. Spend the afternoon exploring Ishasha's open savanna, returning for a candlelit bush dinner at your lodge.

The road to Bwindi winds through terraced hillsides and tea estates, offering views that are jaw-dropping on their own. Arrive, settle in to your premium gorilla lodge perched on the forest edge, and attend a pre-trek briefing. An early night ensures you're rested for tomorrow's adventure.

Gorilla Trekking — The Centrepiece of Your Safari

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The day you've been counting down to. After an early breakfast, you receive your gorilla group assignment and trek into Bwindi with your guide and rangers. The jungle closes around you — ancient trees dripping with moss, sunlight filtering through the canopy. Then: the rustle of foliage, a branch moving. You've found the gorillas. You spend one full hour with the family — watching a silverback beat his chest, a mother nurse her infant, juveniles tumble and play. No fence. No glass. Just you and the gorillas, in their home. This hour will stay with you forever. Afternoon at leisure — optional gorilla batwa community visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fit do I need to be for gorilla trekking?
Gorilla trekking is classified as moderate physical activity. Treks can last between 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorilla family is located that day. The terrain in Bwindi is steep and the forest is dense. Most healthy adults of any age can complete the trek. We recommend wearing sturdy hiking boots and bringing a walking stick (available at the trailhead). Our guides always adjust the pace to the group.
Is Uganda safe for tourists?
Uganda is a stable, welcoming country with a strong tourism infrastructure. The national parks and tourist areas are very safe. Our team operates with UWEC (Uganda Wildlife Education Centre) certified guides and all vehicles are regularly serviced. We monitor travel advisories from the UK, US, and EU governments and will always brief clients on current conditions.
What is the best time of year for this tour?
Uganda's wildlife is accessible year-round, but the best conditions are during the drier months — June to September and December to February. Gorilla trekking is possible in all seasons, but the trails are easier in dry weather. We can help you identify the best time based on your preferences and availability.
Can the itinerary be customised?
Absolutely. This 8-day itinerary is a template, not a constraint. We can add Murchison Falls National Park, Lake Bunyonyi, or a Nile rafting experience at Jinja. We can shorten or extend the duration, adjust accommodation tiers, or create a fully bespoke private itinerary. Contact us on WhatsApp or email to begin the conversation.
Do I need a visa? What vaccinations are required?
Most nationalities require a visa to enter Uganda. This can be obtained online at visas.immigration.go.ug for approximately USD 50. A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Uganda. We strongly recommend also consulting your GP about malaria prophylaxis, typhoid, and hepatitis A vaccinations before travel.
What happens if the gorillas aren't found?
The Uganda Wildlife Authority tracks each habituated gorilla family daily. In the extremely rare event that a family cannot be located after a full trek, UWA's policy entitles you to a free repeat trek on another date. In our years of operation, we have a near-100% success rate for gorilla encounters.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that travel plans can change. Cancellations made more than 60 days before departure receive a full refund minus the gorilla permit cost (permits are non-refundable once booked with UWA). Cancellations within 30–60 days incur a 50% cancellation fee. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that includes cancellation cover. Please contact us directly for full policy details.
