01
Kampala / Entebbe

Arrival & Welcome to the Pearl of Africa

Your guide meets you at Entebbe International Airport with a warm welcome. After a comfortable transfer, you'll settle into your Kampala hotel for an orientation dinner and a briefing on the spectacular days ahead. This evening, raise a glass to the adventure that awaits — Uganda's wild heart is calling.

Kibale Forest National Park

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest

Drive southwest through Uganda's lush countryside to Kibale — home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, our closest living relatives. With your UWA ranger guide, venture into the forest as dawn light filters through ancient mahogany canopy. Hear the chimps call before you see them; then spend an hour in their presence — watching, listening, marvelling. This afternoon, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a birdwatcher's paradise with over 200 species.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Lions in the Trees & Kazinga Channel Cruise

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park — Uganda's most biodiverse reserve. Morning game drive through the Ishasha sector to search for the park's celebrated tree-climbing lions, a rare behaviour found almost nowhere else in Africa. In the afternoon, board your private boat on the Kazinga Channel, where elephants bathe at the banks, hippos bask in the shallows, and a spectacular variety of waterbirds gathers at sunset.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Journey to the Gorilla Kingdom

Drive through the dramatic highlands toward Bwindi — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest and most biologically diverse forests on earth. Arriving in the afternoon, you'll visit a local Batwa community to learn the ancient story of the original forest guardians. This evening, your guide will brief you on tomorrow's gorilla trek: what to expect, how to behave, and how to make the most of your hour with the gorillas.

The Most Profound Hour of Your Life — Gorilla Trekking

This is the day everything has been leading to. After breakfast, set out with your ranger guide into the forest. The trek may last anywhere from one to six hours — through tangled undergrowth, across steep ridges, past waterfalls — but the moment you find your gorilla family, time stops. You'll spend one silent, sacred hour with a habituated mountain gorilla family. Silver-backed males. Curious juveniles. Watchful mothers. A memory that will stay with you forever. This afternoon, rest and savour what you have witnessed.

Murchison Falls National Park

The Nile, the Falls & the Great Savannah

Fly or drive north to Murchison Falls — Uganda's largest national park, where the entire force of the Nile River is squeezed through a rock cleft just 7 metres wide, creating one of the world's most powerful waterfalls. Afternoon game drive across the savannah: vast herds of buffaloes, Rothschild's giraffes, elephants, waterbuck, and kob stretch to the horizon. A sunset boat cruise upriver to the base of the falls brings an extraordinary close to the day.

Entebbe / Departure

Final Morning Game Drive & Farewell to Uganda

One last dawn game drive before transferring to Entebbe for your international flight. Uganda has a way of staying with you long after you leave — in the sound of a gorilla's breath, in the roar of the Nile, in the memory of a lion draped over an acacia branch. Your guide will ensure a comfortable and timely departure. Until next time, the Pearl of Africa awaits your return.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gorilla trekking can range from a short one-hour walk to a full-day hike through steep, muddy rainforest terrain. Most travellers with a moderate level of fitness manage well. We recommend bringing sturdy hiking boots, gardening gloves, and plenty of water. Our porters are available to assist and carry bags — we strongly recommend hiring one. Minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years.
Uganda can be visited year-round. The driest months — June to September and December to February — are generally the most comfortable for trekking and wildlife viewing. However, the lush green wet season also has its charms and fewer crowds. Gorilla trekking permits should be booked 3–6 months in advance regardless of season.
Most nationalities require a visa to enter Uganda. An East African Tourist Visa (approximately $100 USD) also grants access to Kenya and Rwanda and offers excellent value. We recommend applying online via the Uganda e-Visa portal before departure. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry.
Absolutely. All our tours are tailored to individual needs. We can adjust accommodation tiers, add extra nights, include a Rwanda gorilla extension, or arrange a Zanzibar beach finish. Contact us with your preferences and we'll design your perfect Uganda experience from scratch.
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory and you must carry your certificate. We also recommend anti-malarial prophylaxis, typhoid, hepatitis A and B, and ensuring routine vaccinations are up to date. Please consult a travel medicine clinic at least 4–6 weeks before departure. We recommend comprehensive travel and medical insurance for all guests.
Once you confirm your travel dates and package, a 30% deposit secures your booking and we immediately apply for your gorilla trekking permit with Uganda Wildlife Authority. The balance is due 60 days before departure. You can pay securely via our PesaPal payment portal, bank transfer, or contact us for other arrangements.
