Specialist Photographic Expedition

8-Day Uganda Wildlife Photography Safari

Designed for visual storytellers. Capture the raw beauty of East Africa’s savannah giants and canopy primates on a slow-paced, patient, and highly structured photography journey.

The Photographic Journey

"Light is the ultimate storyteller. In Uganda, the mist and grasslands offer a canvas unlike any other."

Wander and Wonder Tours welcomes you to a private, highly specialized photography safari. Unlike fast-paced group tours, this program is designed for patience. We focus on slow tracking, wait for behaviors to unfold, and position our vehicles specifically to catch the ideal light angles.

Led by an expert photography naturalist guide, you will master low-light Bwindi forest exposures, capture tree-climbing lions in Ishasha with glowing low-angle light, and sail along the Nile delta at dawn to photograph rare birds in pristine conditions. Our custom 4x4 vehicles are equipped with window beanbags and side mounts to ensure steady, clean frames.

The Photographic Circuit

An active, highly immersive eight-day journey across Uganda's most diverse national parks.

I
Day 1: Entebbe to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Sanctuary (Rhino Shoot)

Tracking White Rhinos

Depart early morning from Entebbe, heading north toward the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Join a trained conservation ranger for an on-foot walking trek to photograph southern white rhinos. After lunch, continue to Murchison Falls National Park and watch the sunset over the grasslands as you enter.

II
Day 2: Murchison Falls NP — Murchison Nile Delta Dawn Birds & Sunset Safari

Delta Dawn & Savannah Gold

Set out at dawn on a private boat safari along the Nile Delta, looking for rare bird species, including the elusive Shoebill, in pristine low light. In the late afternoon, enjoy a dedicated golden hour game drive to capture predators actively searching for prey in the warm grassland light.

III
Day 3: Murchison Falls NP — Dedicated Sunrise Shoot & Transfer to Kibale

Savannah Light Transit

Maximize your morning with a dedicated sunrise safari, capturing herds crossing Murchison's open plains. After breakfast, head south past scenic local crater lakes and villages, settling down at the edge of Kibale Forest for a peaceful evening and dinner.

IV
Day 4: Kibale Forest Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Shoot

Canopy Primate Exposures

Trek deep into the high canopy of Kibale Forest to photograph wild chimpanzee communities. Focus on capturing raw animal expressions, grooming social patterns, and active movements. In the afternoon, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for close primate and bird photos.

V
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth NP — Kazinga Channel Private Sunset Cruise

Water-Level Portraits

Drive south past the Equator to Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the afternoon, board our private Kazinga Channel boat safari. This waterway connects Lakes Edward and George, providing close-up wildlife shots of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and elephant herds drinking along the shore.

VI
Day 6: Ishasha Sector Tree-Climbing Lions — Golden Hour Behavior Shoots

Lions in the Figs

Explore the southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth, famous for tree-climbing lions resting in fig trees. Focus on catching resting predators with beautiful low-angle sunlight illuminating their fur against the dark branches of the trees.

VII
Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — Gorilla Trekking Photographic Quest

Misty Forest Light

Embark on a gorilla trekking safari through Bwindi's old-growth forest. Adjust your ISO settings to capture mountain gorillas underneath the deep, misty canopy, letting you witness how their majestic features stand out in the soft, shattered shafts of light.

VIII
Day 8: Morning Forest Mist Shoot & Return Flight to Entebbe

Photography Safari Guidance

What photography gear should I pack?
We recommend a focal range of 70-200mm and 400-600mm for wildlife portraits. A fast prime lens (e.g. 50mm or 85mm f/1.8 or f/1.4) is ideal for low-light Bwindi forest photography. Rain covers are highly recommended.
Are camera mount attachments available in safari vehicles?
Yes, our custom safari cruisers are equipped with window beanbags, sandbag supports, and steady side mount brackets to ensure solid, clean frames.
How can I charge my camera gear at the lodges?
All selected lodges are equipped with charging stations, and our safari cruisers feature continuous 220V inverter power sockets so you can charge your batteries while traveling between locations.
