Tour overview

This is the Uganda trip for travellers with limited time and big hopes. You trade long safari days for two powerful experiences: a guided trek into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a slow, scenic stay on Lake Bunyonyi, ringed by terraced hills.

Your story, day by day

Tap a day to open it. Times are realistic estimates and can shift with traffic, weather and your permit briefing time.

Savannah landscape on the drive south

Day 1: Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi

The city fades behind you. Banana groves give way to tea slopes, and the air turns cooler with every climb toward the Kigezi highlands.

7:30 AM

Meet your driver guide at your hotel or Entebbe airport. Briefing on the route and the days ahead.

10:30 AM

Cross the Equator near Kayabwe for photos, then a comfortable coffee stop in Masaka or Mbarara.

1:30 PM

Lunch on the road. Optional short stop for Ankole cattle and rolling views.

5:30 PM

Arrive at your lodge near Bwindi for dinner and an early night. Your trekking permit briefing is arranged for the morning.

Day 2: The gorilla encounter, then Lake Bunyonyi

You hear them before you see them: a branch snapping, a low rumble. Then the leaves part, and a silverback looks straight at you.

7:30 AM

Breakfast and ranger briefing at the park trailhead. Meet your trackers and porters.

8:30 AM

Trek begins. Rangers follow the family's trail from the day before. Expect 1 to 5 hours of hiking depending on where they nested.

Midday

One hour with the gorillas, watching from a respectful distance. Keep your camera ready, no flash.

3:00 PM

Trek certificate, a late lunch, then a scenic drive over the hills to Lake Bunyonyi (about 2 hours).

6:00 PM

Check in at your lakeside stay. Dinner with the sound of water.

Slow breakfast. Optional sunrise birding: kingfishers, herons and weavers are easy to spot here.

10:00 AM

Guided dugout canoe trip around the islands, including the story of Punishment Island.

1:00 PM

Lakeside lunch, then your choice: village walk with local hosts, swimming, spa time or a quiet book.
