Your six days, chapter by chapter

Day1

North to the Nile

Drive 5.5 to 6 hours

Your driver-guide meets you at your hotel in the early morning and the city fades behind you. The road runs north through Luweero and Masindi, past pineapple stalls and wide green farmland, as the air grows warmer and the sky seems to widen.

By afternoon you cross into Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest, where giraffes and buffalo often appear beside the road to welcome you. At your lodge, a honeymoon welcome waits, and the evening is yours to watch the sun sink over the Nile with a drink in hand.

  • Early morning pick-up in Kampala or Entebbe, with lunch and comfort stops
  • Arrival in Murchison Falls National Park and check-in at your lodge
  • Honeymoon welcome and a sunset over the river
Optional: rhino tracking on foot at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary on the way (adds about two hours), or a private sundowner by the Nile.
Day2

Savannah at Dawn, the Nile by Afternoon

Game drive 3 hoursNile cruise 2 to 3 hours

You rise before the heat, and your 4x4 rolls onto the northern savannah as the mist lifts. Elephants stroll across the plains, Rothschild's giraffes pick their way between the acacias, and lions sometimes lounge in the long grass, watching the day begin.

After lunch and a rest, you board a launch for the cruise up the Nile. Hippos yawn at the water's edge, crocodiles bask on the banks, and the river narrows until you hear the falls before you see them: a roaring white plume where the whole Nile is forced through a gap just seven metres wide. It is the kind of place that makes you hold hands.

  • Morning game drive on the northern savannah
  • Afternoon boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls
  • Dinner and a quiet evening at your lodge
Optional: a private bush dinner under the stars, arranged through the lodge at an additional cost.
Day3

The Top of the Falls and the Road to the Hills

Walk 1 hourDrive 6 to 7 hours

After breakfast, you drive to the top of the falls and stand beside the raging Nile as it plunges below, close enough to feel the spray on your face. It is an unforgettable viewpoint and a perfect place for a photograph together.

Then the road turns south and west towards Fort Portal, through Hoima and the green foothills of the Rwenzori. It is a long day, paced with stops, and it ends somewhere special: a lodge above a crater lake, with tea estates rolling away below and the evening light turning the water to gold.

  • Visit to the top of Murchison Falls
  • Scenic drive to Fort Portal, with lunch on the way
  • Check-in at a crater lake lodge and a quiet evening together
Optional: a sunset walk along the crater rim, or a visit to a Fort Portal tea estate.
Day4

Into the Wild Heart of Queen Elizabeth

Drive 2.5 to 3 hoursGame drive 2 to 3 hours

After a slow breakfast overlooking the lake, you wind down from the hills towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the landscape flattens into a vast, shimmering savannah dotted with candelabra euphorbia.

Your afternoon game drive crosses the Kasenyi Plains, a favourite hunting ground of lions, where elephants, buffalo and Uganda kob graze under a huge sky. Back at your lodge, you toast the day with the sunset spilling across the park.

  • Scenic transfer from Fort Portal to Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • Lodge check-in and lunch
  • Afternoon game drive across the Kasenyi Plains
Optional: a visit to the Katwe salt lake, or a guided sunset drive.
Day5

Hippos, Elephants and Golden Hour

Cruise 2 hoursGame drive 2 to 3 hours

Today, you enjoy the best of the park. In the morning, a guided drive explores new corners of the savannah, with a chance to find leopards and lions still moving in the cool air. After lunch, you glide along the Kazinga Channel, where huge pods of hippos, elephants coming to drink and flocks of pelicans, storks and kingfishers pass by at close range.

As the sun lowers, the plains turn amber, and your last evening in the wild is as quiet and beautiful as you imagined it could be.

  • Morning game drive
  • Afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise
  • Final evening at your lodge
Optional: a romantic candlelit dinner or a couples massage at the lodge, at an additional cost.
Day6

Home With a Story to Tell

Drive 6 to 7 hours

After a leisurely breakfast and a last look across the savannah, you begin the road home via Mbarara and Masaka, with a stop at the equator for the photograph every honeymoon album deserves.

You arrive in Kampala or Entebbe with new memories, the dust of three landscapes on your boots and the quiet certainty that this is only the first of your adventures together.

  • Relaxed breakfast and check-out
  • Return drive to Kampala or Entebbe with a lunch stop and an equator photo stop
  • Drop-off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport

Frequently asked questions

Is this safari suitable for a honeymoon?

Very much so. It is private, scenic and unhurried, with romantic lodges, a welcome for newlyweds and optional extras such as candlelit dinners and sundowners.

How long are the drives?

Two days involve longer drives: about 6 to 7 hours from Murchison Falls to Fort Portal, and about 6 to 7 hours from Queen Elizabeth back to Kampala. Both are broken up with stops, and the scenery is part of the journey.

When is the best time to go?

The drier months, roughly June to September and December to February, are best for game viewing and for getting around. The green season is lush, quieter and often better value.

Can we add gorilla trekking?

Yes. Queen Elizabeth is a natural gateway to Bwindi, and we can extend the honeymoon with a gorilla trek. Ask for a custom itinerary.

Can the lodges arrange surprises?

Of course. Tell us about your wedding date, favourite flowers or a special dinner, and we will arrange what we can with the lodges.

How do I pay?

Reserve with a 30% deposit and pay the balance before you travel. You can pay securely online in many currencies by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
