Day-by-Day Itinerary
Departure — The Long Road Into the Wild
Your Kidepo adventure begins with a sunrise departure from Kampala or Entebbe. Your experienced guide and private 4x4 will collect you from your hotel before dawn. The drive north is itself part of the experience — crossing the Nile at Karuma, passing through the Acholi sub-region, and gradually leaving the lush south behind as the landscape transforms into open, ancient savanna.
After approximately 8–9 hours on the road (with comfort stops and a lunch break in Gulu), you descend into the Kidepo Valley as the afternoon light turns golden. Your first game drive begins immediately en route to camp — keep your eyes open for elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and if luck is with you, the first glimpse of Kidepo's legendary lions.
Settle into your accommodation, enjoy a warm welcome dinner under the stars, and fall asleep to the sounds of the African bush.
Full Day in the Valley — The Heart of Kidepo
Rise before dawn for a hot bush breakfast as the park wakes up around you. By 6:30am you're out in the Narus Valley — Kidepo's wildlife hub — for the morning's prime game-viewing window. This is where the magic concentrates: large lion prides resting under acacia trees, cheetahs scanning the open grass, herds of African buffalo several hundred strong, Rothschild giraffes, zebras, eland, and ostriches moving through the amber light.
