Kibale Forest National Park · Uganda
Track Wild
Chimpanzees
in Their Domain
Enter the ancient forest of Kibale — home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and the highest primate density on earth. An encounter guided with expertise, offered with reverence.
The Experience
Where the Forest
Comes Alive
Kibale Forest is Uganda's premier chimpanzee trekking destination — a cathedral of ancient mahogany and fig trees resonating with the calls and laughter of our closest relatives. Here, habituated chimpanzee communities move freely through their natural range, observed on their own terms.
Your expert guide will lead you along forest paths, interpreting chimp behaviour as you observe them feed, groom, play and socialise. This is not a zoo encounter. It is wild, unpredictable, and profoundly moving.
Kibale is also home to red colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, olive baboons, and grey-cheeked mangabeys — making every trek a rich primate safari beyond the chimps themselves.

The Highest Primate
Density on Earth
Habituated Communities
Kibale's chimp communities have been fully habituated to human presence over years of careful research, allowing relaxed, close-range observation.
Expert Ranger Guides
Our UWA-certified guides carry deep knowledge of chimp behaviour, ecology and the forest itself — turning your trek into a masterclass in primatology.
Morning & Afternoon Treks
Choose from dawn departures to catch chimps at their most active, or afternoon treks as they settle for the evening — each offering a distinct atmosphere.
Chimp Habituation Experience
For the most immersive encounter, join our full-day habituation experience — following researchers as they work with emerging chimp groups from sunrise to sunset.
Rich Forest Ecosystem
Beyond chimps, Kibale harbours 335 bird species, forest elephants, and over 250 tree species — a biodiverse wonderland at every turn of the trail.
Small Group Sizes
A strict maximum of 8 visitors per chimp group per visit preserves the quality of the experience and the wellbeing of the chimpanzees.
