Five Extraordinary Landscapes

Each park in Uganda has a distinct character and a different cast of wildlife. This tour brings them all together in one seamless journey.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Days 1–3
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over half the world's mountain gorilla population. Ancient, misty, and breathtaking — Bwindi is the centrepiece of any Uganda safari.

Kibale Forest - Chimpanzees
Day 4
Kibale National Park

The chimpanzee capital of the world, with over 1,500 individuals. Kibale's tropical rainforest also hosts red colobus, L'Hoest's monkeys, and over 370 bird species.

Queen Elizabeth National Park
Days 5–6
Queen Elizabeth National Park

Uganda's most biodiverse park — tree-climbing lions, thousands of hippos, elephants along the Kazinga Channel, and over 600 bird species across savannah and wetland.

Murchison Falls National Park
Days 7–8
Murchison Falls National Park

Uganda's largest national park, where the full force of the Nile squeezes through a 7-metre gorge. Giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and lions roam vast open savannah.

Kidepo Valley National Park
Day 9
Kidepo Valley National Park

Uganda's most remote and arguably most spectacular park. Rolling valleys, dramatic mountains, and wildlife found nowhere else in Uganda — ostriches, cheetahs, and wild dogs.

Lake Mburo National Park
Day 10
Lake Mburo National Park

A scenic final act — Uganda's only park with zebras, impalas, and elands. Tranquil horseback safaris and boat rides on the lake make for a memorable close to the journey.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Journey to the Gorilla Kingdom

Drive southwest through the undulating green hills of Uganda's highlands toward Bwindi — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest, most biologically rich forests on earth. En route, stop at the Equator for photos and a fascinating demonstration of the Coriolis effect. Arrive at your forest-edge lodge in the afternoon. This evening, your ranger guide briefs you on tomorrow's trek — what to expect, how to move, how to make the most of your hour with the gorillas. Sleep is optional; excitement, guaranteed.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Gorilla Trekking — The Most Profound Hour

This is the day. After an early breakfast, you set off into the forest with your UWA ranger guide and a team of experienced trackers. The trek can last anywhere from one to seven hours through dense undergrowth, tangled roots, and steep ridges — but none of that matters the moment you find your gorilla family. You will spend one sacred hour in the presence of mountain gorillas: silver-backed males, playful juveniles, watchful mothers. Time stops. Words fail. This is why people come to Uganda. Afternoon at leisure to rest and absorb what you have just experienced.

Chimpanzee Tracking — Our Closest Relatives

Transfer north to Kibale Forest — home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and Uganda's premier primate-tracking destination. With your ranger, enter the forest before dawn as shafts of golden light pierce the mahogany canopy. You will hear the chimps before you see them — their distinctive calls echoing through the trees. Then, face to face: a primate encounter that rivals even the gorilla trek in its raw emotional power. This afternoon, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-managed birding haven of extraordinary richness.

Tree-Climbing Lions & the Kazinga Channel

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park — Uganda's most species-rich reserve. Morning game drive through the Ishasha sector in search of the park's celebrated tree-climbing lions, a rare and extraordinary behaviour documented almost nowhere else in Africa. Spot elephants, warthogs, Uganda kob, and massive buffalo herds across the open savannah. Afternoon: board your private boat on the Kazinga Channel, where the banks are literally lined with hippos, crocodiles, and bathing elephants — one of Africa's finest wildlife spectacles on water.

Dawn Game Drive & Crater Lakes Exploration

Rise before the sun for a silent dawn game drive — the hour when lions finish their night hunt and the savannah glows amber in the early light. After breakfast, explore the remarkable Crater Lakes of the Ndali-Kasenda area, a chain of jade-green volcanic lakes set into the hillside like jewels. Optional salt lake at Lake Katwe, where local communities have harvested salt for centuries — a vivid, deeply human encounter with the land. This evening, a spectacular sundowner on the escarpment overlooking the Rift Valley.

Murchison Falls National Park

The Nile, the Falls & the Great Northern Savannah

Drive or fly north to Murchison Falls — Uganda's largest national park, straddling the course of the White Nile. Afternoon game drive north of the river: vast open grassland with Rothschild's giraffes, elephants, lions, buffaloes, and oribi as far as the eye can see. At sunset, board a boat for the Nile cruise — past wallowing hippos, basking crocodiles, and waterbirds in their thousands, all the way to the thundering base of Murchison Falls, where the entire Nile surges through a 7-metre crack in the rock face with seismic force.

Morning at the Top of the Falls & Full-Day Safari

Start with an early hike to the top of Murchison Falls — standing at the edge of the gorge as the Nile thunders below is one of Uganda's most visceral experiences. Then a full-day game drive south of the river through dense woodland and riverine forest, where leopard sightings are possible and chimpanzees have been documented in the Budongo Forest Reserve. This is wild Uganda at its most expansive — horizon-wide and utterly untamed.

Kidepo Valley National Park

The Forgotten Eden — Uganda's Most Remote Park

Fly or drive northeast to Kidepo Valley — a park so remote it was once described by CNN as one of the top safari destinations in Africa that few people know exists. A dramatic landscape of open valley, rugged mountains, and dry riverbeds plays host to wildlife found nowhere else in Uganda: ostriches, cheetahs, Burchell's zebras, eland, and the elusive African wild dog. Game drive through this extraordinary, tourist-light wilderness. Visit a Karamojong manyatta village for a deeply authentic cultural encounter with one of East Africa's most fascinating pastoral communities.

Lake Mburo — A Gentle Farewell to Uganda

A final stop at Lake Mburo National Park — compact, intimate, and full of surprises. Uganda's only park with zebras, impalas, and elands. A morning boat ride on the lake brings hippos, otters, and extraordinary birdlife. Optional horseback safari along the lakeshore — a uniquely peaceful way to view the animals up close. After lunch, transfer to Entebbe for your international departure flight. Uganda has marked you. The Pearl of Africa stays with you wherever you go next.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend booking 4–6 months in advance, and ideally 6 months for peak season travel (June–September, December–January). This tour requires both gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking permits, which are in high demand and issued by Uganda Wildlife Authority in limited numbers. The sooner you contact us, the better your chances of securing your preferred dates.
Yes, absolutely. Internal charter flights are available between several parks and significantly reduce travel time — particularly recommended for the journey to Kidepo Valley (approx. 1.5 hrs flying vs. 8+ hrs driving) and Murchison Falls. Flying options can be added to any package. Contact us for a quote with flying inclusions.
A moderate level of fitness is recommended, particularly for the gorilla and chimpanzee treks which can be strenuous. The rest of the tour involves standard game drives accessible to all. We offer porter services for gorilla trekking (strongly recommended) and can adjust pace to suit your group. The minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years.
Uganda is one of East Africa's safest destinations. Kidepo Valley National Park, though remote, is fully secured and regularly visited by international tourists. All our guides are experienced, and we work closely with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers throughout. We monitor the latest travel advisories and will always inform guests of anything relevant before departure.
Yes. An East African Tourist Visa allows access to Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda on one visa (approx. $100 USD). We regularly arrange Uganda-Rwanda gorilla combinations and Uganda-Kenya safari extensions. Ask us about bespoke multi-country itineraries — we are happy to design the perfect extended journey for you.
A 30% deposit confirms your booking and secures your permits. The balance is due 60 days before departure. We accept payments via our secure PesaPal portal (all major international credit and debit cards), bank transfer, or other arrangements by mutual agreement. Contact us and we will find the most convenient option for you.
For trekking: sturdy waterproof hiking boots, long trousers, long-sleeved shirts in neutral tones, a light rain jacket, and gardening gloves for navigating vegetation. For game drives: comfortable layers (mornings can be cool). For all: high-SPF sunscreen, insect repellent, a wide-brimmed hat, and a quality camera with zoom lens. We will send you a comprehensive packing list after booking.
